Where should we stay if we want to spend a couple more nights in Istanbul?

Pick according to the area description:

Sultanahmet: If it'll be mainly historic it would make sense for you to stay around old town (Sultanahmet). All the hotels are walking distance to the sites and mainly clean and nice so you can pick accordingly!

Karaköy/Taksim/Galata Area: If you don’t want to be that much in the middle of the tourist scene yet still close to the sites, then we would suggest Karaköy / Taksim/Galata area, all very close to each other. And that area is FULL of people the liveliest spot of the city. Bars, clubs, restos ranging from sandwich buffets to gourmet spots, cocktail bars etc. Taksim is the more underground, bohemian part of the city. But also less sterile.

Standard Business Hotels:

Old & Boheme & Characteristic Hotels:

Cool & Hip Hotels:

Airbnb options:

Nişantaşı: If you want to be in the district where all the high fashion stores, luxury street cafes, stylish people, fancy cars are then Nişantaşı would be your area.

Anatolian Side by boat: If you want to be right on the sea and go by boat to places these old stone Villas you might like.

Bebek/Ortaköy/Kuruçeşme Area:  This is a little more residential, but also is the location of the fanciest restaurants and clubs. Also, you can take walks on the Bosphorus, stop by the cute cafes and nice fish restos.

Beşiktaş: Even though there isnt all that once you step outside of the hotels there but it is as far/close to anything we’ve told so far. So pretty central. And it’s where the fanciest hotels are.
